Danny Skluth goes on the attack for the John Jay boys lacrosse team during Tuesday’s loss to Manhassett at home.

The Indians returned from Manhasset Thursday night with a bitter taste in their mouth following their 11-9 loss. Manhasset is ranked among the Top 20 in the nation, and is favored to win Long Island this year. Matt Lupinacci led the way with 5 goals and an assist. Hunter Keech finished with 2 goals and 2 assists, and Josh Rubin and Jack Gorman both had a goal and an assist. The loss wasn’t the result they were looking for, but it proved to them that they can play against anyone. Pelham came here looking for a big win as they head into conference play. They didn’t know what they were getting themselves into. The Indians took a 5-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Led by the attack unit of Josh Rubin with four goals, Gus Carlson with three goals and one assist, and Jackson Rieger with one goal and three assists, the Indians tore apart Pelham’s defense. Despite the absence of starting defenseman, Duke-bound Braden Burke, Jake Murphy, Thor Adamec, Jack Marshke, Isaiah Rust, and Dan Johnston held strong. Shahe Katchadurian had another strong outing in goal, only allowing three goals to a dangerous Pelham offense. John Jay looks forward to their next game against longtime rival, the Yorktown Huskers. This Thursday night at 6pm, come out to support your Indians!
