Lewisboro’s 2022 Newest Town Council Members Step Up to Their Position
“I look forward to doing the good work to help the town of Lewisboro.” states Tony Goncalves Lewisboro’s newest supervisor after prior supervisor, Peter Parsons left the position Saturday January 2, 2021.
After beating his opponent Bill Bongiorno for the position of a two-year supervisor in the November 2021 election, Goncalves finally stepped up to the position.
Goncalves is a 29-year-old Lewisboro resident who works as a technology and management executive.
While Goncalves was being sworn in, fellow council women Andrea Rendo, Mary Shah and newest tax receiver, Deidre Casper took their oaths for the trio of jurists.
Previous councilman John Pappalardo administered the important oath that Goncalves took. After being sworn in, with a hopeful and excited expression, Goncalves exclaimed “I hope to do as good a job as he has done for the last 10 years.”
In preparation for the oath ceremony, Parsons held a small gathering for fellow colleagues, friends, and family in order to convey his thankfulness for the opportunity to be a leader in Lewisboro for a whole 10 years. Parsons ended his speech with, “It’s about time.”
Previously, Andrea Rendo, a lawyer and foregoing member of the county planning commission, had lost the previous 2020 race to council member, Richard Sklarin.
Rendo received her oath from Charles Banks, a former Bedford town justice and friend of Rendo. Succeeding Rendo’s oath, states, “I look forward to the next four years,” she said. “I look forward to working with my colleagues.”
Mary Shah, a medical librarian, archivist, executive member and vice president of the library board from 2011-2018 received her oath from Lewisboro Town Justice, Susan C. Simone, as well as Deidre Casper.
Shah beamed with pride while receiving her oath and seemed optimistic aboutLewisboro’s future. Shah stated, “I look forward to working with my colleagues.”
Casper has served as the interim tax receiver in 2013 when she was first elected as the 4–year post tax receiver. This is not Casper’s first time being a leader of Lewisboro. In 2017, Casper stepped up to be a tax receiver. This year, Casper states to be thrilled to have the opportunity to hold a position in Lewisboro for a second time.
