Five Tips to Be Fit and Healthy for Summer

Five+Tips+to+Be+Fit+and+Healthy+for+Summer

Summer is in T-minus three months and chances are you’re probably sitting in front of your computer reading this with a bag of chips in one hand and a Coke in the other. While this may sound nice, it certainly won’t get you those “Pinterest Body Goals” you’ve always dreamed of. Summer is your time to shine, and the following tips are a good place to start to get that body you’ve always wanted.

  1. Water

This may sound simple, but it can make all the difference. Water can benefit the body in many ways by increasing one’s energy, promoting weight loss, flushing out toxins, improving skin health and boosting the immune system. All of this for something that is FREE. Aim to consume half your body weight in milliliters and you’ll be a step closer to feeling as confident as possible this summer.

  1. Exercise

This is a given. You can’t plan on feeling healthy and fit if you never move your body. That being said, I know how hard it can be to force yourself to exercise, so my advice is to find something you enjoy as your means of movement. Personally, I love taking walks with my pup. If you find you love zumba, cycling, yoga or kickboxing, stick with that. That way you will be more inclined to want to workout.

  1. Diet

Your diet is hands down the most important factor in your journey to living a healthy lifestyle. Reducing your sugar intake can be hard but it will give you the results you want. Next time you are craving something sweet, opt for fruit instead of chocolate.  However, this doesn’t mean you can’t have your favorite cake every once in awhile. Moderation is everything. A great option for improving your diet is looking on the “Goodful” page on Facebook. They post a huge variety of healthy recipes that are all delicious!

  1. Sleep

Studies have shown that lack of sleep has a direct correlation with not being able to lose weight. Not only that, but it can also put your overall health in jeopardy. Sleep deprivation can result in heart failure, diabetes and strokes, along with depression and a decreased attention span. Getting the right amount of sleep ensures obvious health benefits. Sleep is the end all be all cure.

  1. Find a Fit Friend

Having someone to motivate you to keep going when you feel like giving up is key. This is a step that most people overlook, but it can be a make or break. Without a friend pushing you to meet your goals, you are far more likely to back down from your objective. So find a friend who has similar goals as you and remind each other that a healthy lifestyle is the best lifestyle.
